Dr Cheryl Travers received her BSc (Hons.) in Psychology (1st Class) from the University of Lancaster (1986); her MSc in Occupational Psychology from the MSC/ESRC Social and Applied Psychology Unit, University of Sheffield (1988) (Funded by the MRC); and her PhD on a nationwide study of teacher stress in the UK from Manchester School of Management, UMIST (1991) (Funded by the NAS/UWT). She holds Chartered Psychologist Status with the British Psychological Society (C. Psychol).

Cheryl began her appointment in the School in April 1993, following two years as 夜色直播app Fellow in the Centre for Organisational 夜色直播app at the London Business School (1991 to 1993). During her time at 夜色直播app, she has held 夜色直播app Project Co-ordinator MBA 1993-1997; Director for MBA in Information and Library Management (Development) 1995-1997; and more recently Director of Doctoral Training 1997-2006. She has also been a member of the University Ethical Committee.

Cheryl is a member of the Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour 夜色直播app Group and her research interests and publications have mainly been in the areas of occupational stress, management of change, women in management and the impact of personality type and political skills and behaviour on adaptation to work.

Cheryl’s major external activities have been as Conference Committee Member for British Psychological Society Occupational Psychology Annual Conference 1991-1997; Book Reviews Editor and Editorial Board member for Women in Management Journal (MCB); External Examiner for PhD candidates for the Department of Psychology at Liverpool University and Manchester School of Management, UMIST, (1999); Trainer for the Civil Service College, Sunningdale, on the Management of Change, 1995-1997 and Committee Member of the European Women’s Management Development Network (EWMD) 1992-1994.

She consults in most areas of management development (especially team-building and development, stress management and the management of change), to clients in both the public and private sectors.

Cheryl's book Teachers Under Pressure: Stress in the Teaching Profession, with Cary Cooper (1996) has also been published in Spanish, and she has another book out this spring, Occupational Health: The Challenge of Workplace Stress with Schabracq, M., Cooper, C. & van Maanen, D (2001) BPS Books.
