World Menopause Day - MAIA and Age Appreciation Network Event

About this event

World Menopause Day is held every year on the 18th of October. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing. This year, the focus of World Menopause Day is Menopause Hormone Therapy.

To mark World Menopause day, the MAIA Network is hosting a special event led by colleagues from the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences. This event will include a variety of sessions – both educational and practical. You are welcome to attend all the sessions, or just pick and choose which ones are right for you. The final timetable is TBC, but will include:

  • What is menopause and HRT?
  • HRT risks and benefits
  • HR, menopause and the workplace
  • Lifestyle – diet, exercise and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Exercise session (yoga)
  • Sleep and flushes: CBT introductory session
  • Lunch will be provided

There will be a mix of hybrid and in-person sessions. All staff are welcome to attend.

Implementation of the New JNCHES Annual Pay uplift 2024-25

The pay negotiations for the 2024-25 New Joint Negotiating Committee for Higher Education Staff (New JNCHES) pay round began in March 2024 and have included stages of dispute resolution, taking place in August 2024. Whilst agreement wasn’t reached there was constructive engagement, in what are challenging financial times.
